Poster sizes and templates

The American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) specifies that posters can be any size up to 48 inches tall by 96 inches wide (121.92cm tall x 243.84cm wide).

Posters that do not match the dimensions ordered will be printed as closely as possible to the requested size, ensuring there is no distortion of the content.

For those who have already prepared their poster, you can utilize our Poster Size Checker to determine the feasible print size for your design.

Confirming Your Poster Size in PowerPoint:
► For Windows Users: Access the size of your poster by navigating to the "Design" tab in PowerPoint. Within the ribbon, locate and click on "Slide Size" followed by selecting "Custom" to view your poster's dimensions.
► For MAC Users: To find out your poster's size, click on the "File" menu, proceed to "Page Setup," and then select "Custom."

Poster ordering guidelines

We offer two poster printing options to ASHG poster presenters.

Choose our photo-quality paper posters with a satin finish for clear, vibrant posters. For travel convenience, select our crease-resistant, foldable fabric posters, perfect for traveling to the conference. Both options ensure your presentation looks professional and impactful.

The required poster submission format is PDF.
If you have used PowerPoint to design your poster, convert it to a PDF by going to Save As > PDF. Some versions of PowerPoint may have an Export option. However, do not "Print to PDF" because the quality of your PDF will be compromised.

Confirm that everything on your poster is legible. Open your PDF and view it at 200% magnification. Make sure all your graphics look good, especially the quality of any screen captures you may be using. If you cannot easily read any text on the screen at 200%, you may not be able to read the text on the poster.

Turnaround schedule and shipping

You can have your poster shipped to any address you choose. Free shipping (up to 5 business days) is included in the poster prices. Expedited shipping options are also available.

VERY IMPORTANT:
The conference venue will not accept deliveries. Have your posters shipped to your residence, business, or hotel. Confirm ahead of time that your hotel will accept a package on your behalf, even if you are not there yet.

Please note that we will not be responsible for lost or mis-delivered packages that do not follow the required shipping guidelines.

Creating an Effective Conference Poster:
Step-by-Step Guide

ASHG will provide you a poster board 48 inches high by 96 inches wide. For your visual reference, the graphic shows what the most common poster sizes (in orange) look on a 48x96 backing board (in blue).

Use a poster template that meets the conference requirements.
Before you start working on your poster make sure that you are using a poster template that meets the requirements of your conference, and it matches the poster size you plan to order. Most common PowerPoint poster sizes are shown on this page. You can download the templates above.

Create a banner at the top of the poster
Add the poster title, author(s), and the name of your organization. Lettering for the title of your poster should be large enough to be legible from a few feet away. The names of the Authors and associated institutions does not have to be as large.

Prepare a written summary of your project.
Organize the poster sections as follows:
1. Introduction/purpose of the study or project
2. Objectives
3. Methods used in the study or project
4. Results of the study or project
5. Conclusions/evaluation of the study or project.
6. References
