ABSTRACT:
Gestational hypertension can be the starting point for a downward spiral of detrimental conditions for the mother and baby. It may develop into preeclampsia, eclampsia, and ultimately HELLP syndrome. It is essential to prevent this progression in order to keep mother and baby safe. One mechanism to reduce the risk of these conditions occurring is to induce labor. The case scenario in the next sections describe a client who presented with a risk of preeclampsia due to a diagnosis of gestational hypertension and the treatment the client received.
