ABSTRACT
ICU patients received 200ml of plasma in the late stages (after 2 weeks of admission) of COVID-19 infection. Compared to 1 day prior to transfusion, mean SOFA scores, Pao2/Fio2 ratio, GCS scores and lymphocyte count overall improved by day 7. Compared to the SOFA score predicted mortality of 84.4%, mortality of 25% resulted. Therefore, plasma may be safe and effective in late stage, severe COVID-19; however, more than 200ml of plasma transfusion may be necessary for maximum therapeutic effect.
