ABSTRACT:
Background
Artificial intelligence is a growing interest in nursing, but workflow automation tools are underutilized in nursing practice.
Purpose
The objective of this research is to investigate the significance of workflow automation amongst clinical nurses and nurse leaders.
Methods
A web-based survey developed to determine user satisfaction and perception of the use of workflow automation was administered to clinical nurses and nurse leaders who practices in acute care settings in the United States.
Discussion
Nurse leaders have better perception in using workflow automation in their practice on seven of eight measures than clinical nurses. Clinical nurses who use workflow automation are somewhat satisfied while nurse leaders who use workflow automation are mostly dissatisfied with workflow automation in practice.
Conclusion
Clinical nurses and nurse leaders are highly interested in using workflow automation in practice to reduce workload and burden. Integration of workflow automation in nursing practice must be prioritized in healthcare.
